How to Test In-vehicle Networks (IVN) Webinar Series

Join Teledyne LeCroy for this 4-part webinar series about testing automotive networks ranging in speed from 10 kb/s to 10+ Gb/s. In-vehicle networks are rapidly evolving from classic (e.g., CAN and LIN) networks to domain networks with automotive ethernet gateway communication to future zonal architectures with specialized zone controllers and even faster high-speed backbone networks that enable advanced ADAS, infotainment, and autonomous vehicle technologies. Each webinar will run about 60 minutes and include a live Q&A.

Part 1: Fundamentals of In-vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems

Available On-Demand
Aired on February 20, 2024

We will focus on the fundamentals of the IVN ecosystem, including a brief history and evolution of the different standards, an overview of benefits of the new technology, and the associated design challenges. We will conclude with an introduction into the test requirements and the analysis tools available to help troubleshoot and qualify designs.

Part 2: How to Compliance Test In-vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems

Available On-Demand
Aired on April 2, 2024

We will describe the requirements for physical media attachment (PMA) compliance tests, the measurement setup required, the accessories needed, and give hints for obtaining the best measurement results and signal integrity.

Part 3: How to Debug In-vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems

Date: September 17, 2024
Time: 11:00AM Pacific | 2:00PM Eastern

We will look at IVN link communication and explore how to debug and troubleshoot both Point-to-Point and Multidrop architectures using an oscilloscope and how to analyze both the physical and the protocol layers.

Part 4: How to Measure and Qualify Cables and Connectors for Use in IVN Bus Systems

Date: November 5, 2024
Time: 11:00AM Pacific | 2:00PM Eastern

We will focus on measurements of return loss, mode conversion loss and channel losses as now required in the 10/100/1000Base-T1 standards and as will be required in future standards (e.g., ASA and MIPI-APHY). We will review the basic concepts of impedance analysis and S-parameters and their meaning in reference to the various standards. We’ll follow with a measurement demonstration.
