Validation testing is not compliance testing. The CXL interface is implemented via CXL controllers on both the Host and Device sides. The controllers add another level of complexity for validation and testing. Not only must the device memory be validated and tested, the commands and responses of the controllers must also be validated within the CXL protocol. These must be validated, not only for compliance to the specification, but also for interoperability.
Validation testing is critical for confirming the functionality and performance of CXL devices in a host-based system. Key benefits include:
