Scope Basics 101 / Getting the Most Out of Your DSO

This seminar explains how to optimize oscilloscope bandwidth, sample rate, memory, and dynamic range, and overviews a wide range of scope hardware and software tools and capabilities for analysis and debug. Additional topics include avoiding quantization error, avoiding aliasing, waveform interpolation, enhanced resolution, segmented memory, histograms, tracks, trends, parameter pass/fail limit testing, hysteresis, gated measurements, parameter acceptance, waveform scanning, anomaly detection, FFTs, plotting and graphing, triggering, auto-saving, steps to maximize signal quality and efficiency of capturing, viewing, measuring, analyzing, and documenting results.

Power Measurement Techniques

3-phase Power and Inverter and Motor Drive Testing

This seminar focuses on static and dynamic measurements of three-phase and motor inverter and drive systems, three phase power measurements, and motor electromechanical performance characterization. Topics include hardware connectivity, probing, and software setup for three phase measurements, static and dynamic motor drive analysis, motor drive application examples, acquisition, calculated per-cycle waveforms to identify power section misbehaviors, variable frequency drive analysis, correlating per-cycle waveforms to acquired waveforms, harmonic measurements, and dynamic behavior of startup and overload conditions.
